Young, fresh, and filled with love for the Lord is a way to describe gospel singer, Necie B. Straight from Shreveport, Louisiana is a young gospel songstress. Listening to her album will hit you with contemporary gospel lyrics over heavy hitting hip hop-r&b blended sounds. The album Runaway Love is geared toward the young gospel listener and can still be enjoyed by a mature audience as it carries the message of having a commitment to God.
Producer and obvious close friend Tedy-P produced a majority of the album giving it a personal and intimate insight on Necie’s relationship with the Lord. Tedy isn’t afraid to broaden the production skills to test the artists ability and keeps Necie B on her toes as he delivers tracks with great variety from a rock, R&B, gospel to a techno and hip hop sound..
Girls Around the World - The opening track on the album hits you like BLAM!!! The very contemporary production and lyrics definitely reminds listeners of a gospel version of the Beyonce hit Run the world (Girls) as Necie boldly sings of how she will run her life and keep God at the forefront of all she does or gets involved in.
My God – Necie goes on to hit us with a hard hitting beat on the production sounding similar to A. Keys No One. Produced by JorDan Armstrong, Neicy keeps the beat simple and grooves over the beat showing her strong love for her Lord & Savior.
Get It From My Daddy – Is a track produced to appeal to the young christian. Tedy-P throws that southern bounce on the production to have you bouncing around as you recite the catchy chorus. With all the use of slang and catchy phrases, Necie doesn’t forget that all that she has is acquired from her Lord and savior aka Daddy!
Can’t Get Enough – Necie’s soulful vocals grace the slow groove of the track as she puts her all into expressing her desire to get closer to the Lord.
Breath Again – The track starts out with a lil’ freestyle session showing the chemistry between Tedy-P and Necie. She then goes from a fun lil rap to one of the more mature tracks on the album. Production wise and lyrically the duo step up their game showing that they have the versatility to make beautiful music together. The r&b drums push this track to keep your head nodding and listening to her express her ability to relax knowing that the Lord has her back.
Don’t Let Me Fall – Necie sings about going through life’s struggles and running to the One who always had us in His hands. Written by Necie and The Good Guys, the words flow perfectly with the production to show there is depth stored up within this artist that will come out for the masses to see.
Unbreakable – Necie accompanied by co-producer JorDan Armstrong on this track. The two share verses explaining how Gods greatness will not be troubled or broken through life’s difficulties. The track flows nicely but compared to the last two tracks, seemed to lack the depth from the wording in the chorus.
Love Locked Me Down – The Good Guys J. Armstrong and Tedy-P all lend their musical talents to give this young songstress another radio friendly hit. Necie tells of the ppowerfull love she gets from God that has her on lock. You’re sure to hit repeat on this catchy contemporary track.
Your Love – One of my fav’s on the album…. Tedy-P and the Good Guys continue to go in hard and give Necie a repeat worthy r&g (rhythm and gospel) groove. This love song is put together well and carried by the groovy filled baseline gives this song an late 80’s sound. Necie’s melodic back-up riffs over this mellow r&b production adds some spice to the song making it a hot track.
Over & Over – Necie sings her prayer to God asking for forgiveness as she admits to her human side which makes mistakes. Another radio friendly track with an r&b bounce that fits perfectly with the lyrics.
Over Again - takes off where Over & Over left off. The songstress takes a few minutes to worship and continue to show honor to the Lord for his forgiveness.
You’re God (My Everything) – Another one I have on repeat! Necie continues to give honor to God on the contemporary worship song You’re God (My Everything). This is definitely a song for any worship leader to get the crowd motivated for worship. Heavy Rock guitar riffs and loud clashing cymbals mix well with her vocals a she meditates on god greatness with the words “I praise you , Lord your worthy, I praise you , You are my everything”.
Necessary – This track calmly opens up as Necie intimately describes the deep love that she has for her Lord & savior. A simple piano and concert hall sound keeps the track simple and effective. It’s easy to hear the passion she pours into this tracks as it will easily minister to anyone who loves the Lord.
Runaway Love – The team all collaborate again to take the listener to another part of herself to the listener. The title track for the album ends the album in a classy way. The dramatic sound of the track fits Necie’s vocal perfectly as she talks about holding on to Gods Love when life tries to pull her away.
